Mary Schaffer, PhD
Mental Health & Counseling located in Ohio City, Cleveland, OH
I'm Mary and I am Clinical Psychologist dedicated to bridging the gap between neuroscience and psychotherapy. My practice is grounded in science-based models that help adults 18+ with unresolved trauma interfering with attachment regulation, complex loss resolution, post-traumatic stress management, health conditions and aging issues.
Through my work, I integrate research on brain chemistry and the central nervous-polyvagal systems. As the creator of the DOSEin model I focus on non-pharmaceutical coping strategies to optimize the natural production of key neurochemicals; dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins while reducing cortisol-adrenaline.
My passion is to make cutting-edge psychological research accessible and actionable so that individuals restore, rebuild and enhance their self-esteem, have the best relationship with themselves and their loved ones, and gain sustainable tools for long-term health and emotional well-being.
My personal favorite non-pharmaceutical coping strategies are connecting with nature and enjoying “forest bathing activities” such as running, tai chi, hiking and good old walks.
